April 7th Tournament & More

Attention all Mat Rats!

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell everyone that April is tournament month! We have all been working really hard this year (not to mention having lots of fun!) so it's about time for us to put what we have learned to the test! Across the North Shore, there are a few other schools with growing kids wrestling programs who would like to participate with us in some wrestling tournaments. We hope to attend 2 tournaments at different schools this April, as well as host our own tournament on April 7th! Keep in mind that these tournaments are all about having fun and getting, getting some exposure to the competition side of the sport, and experience wrestling in a real environment. Even if you have never been to a tournament before, don't worry. All our coaches have lots of faith in the abilities of the Mat Rats wrestlers and want to encourage everyone who is interested to come out and give it a try!

The other tournament dates are yet to be determined but will be in the second and third week of April. Details to come next week, March 9th.

New Mat Rats Program

Hey Everyone,

Mat Rats will be starting up again on January 5th, 2011!

Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm-7:00pm

Cost
$75.00 for 13 weeks
This cost covers Wrestling BC membership, tournament registration fees, program T-shirt, as well as goes towards a mat fund so we can repair and refresh our current wrestling mats!

This meet is open to any Mat Rat wrestler!  Parents, please send us e-mail to confirm whether or not your little wrestler will be able to make it out!  Cost is FREE!

Wrestling Meet @ Queensbury Elementary on December 14th, 2010

We are going to connect with the elementary wrestling program at Queensbury Elementary for a wrestling practice followed by a mini wrestling meet between the two programs.  Like the Collingwood meet, this is open to any Mat Rat who wants to participate!

Sports Day in Canada - September 18th

Capilano Mat Rats will be partcipating in North Vancouver’s Sports Day in Canada “Open House” on Saturday, September 18th, 10:00am - 4:00pm at the Grant Connell Tennis Centre, 280 Lloyd Avenue (south of Marine Drive across from the ICBC Claim Centre).  Please feel free to drop-by to say hello and find out more information about our upcoming programs.

If there are any current or past Mat Rats who would be willing to drop by for a bit and do a mini wrestling demo please contact us!  We would love to be able to do a few short demos and show the North Shore what we do here at Mat Rat!

Also, don't forget about Fall program starting up this September on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm in the Balmoral Jr. Secondary wrestling room.  If you are new to it, feel free to drop in anytime during a practice to check it out!

Fall Program

Attention all Mat Rats!

We will be hitting the mats once again this fall! Starting on September 22nd and running through until November 24nd, we will be practicing in the Balmoral Jr Secondary wrestling room on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:00pm!

Cost for this session is $75 which includes registration under BC Wrestling, program T-Shirt, as well as the entry cost to any tournaments if your Mat Rat wishes to give competing a try.

Cancelled: Wednesday June 9th

Attn all Mat Rats & parents,

I just received notice from Balmoral Jr. Secondary School that they will be holding their annual Athletic Banquet this coming Wednesday, June 9th at 6pm.  Because of this we must unfortunately cancel this weeks session.  In order to make up, we will add an additional week onto the end of the session for those who wish to attend.  The following week we will be back on track to hit the mat as usual!
